Retired U.S. Navy Rear Adm. H. Kirk Unruh, Jr. has joined Lord Corp.’s board of directors. He retired from the Navy in 2003 after 33 years of active duty and reserve service. He holds a Master’s degree in American studies from the University of Hawaii and a Master’s degree in education from Harvard University.
Mike Marie has joined Universal Avionics as regional sales manager for the central U.S. Based in Columbus, Ohio, Marie has 25 years experience in the industry, and previously was at Sandel Avionics, DAC International, Avidyne and Ryan International.
The Professional Aviation Maintenance Assn. has appointed the Honorable John Goglia as its new chairman. Goglia was the first and only airframe and powerplant mechanic to receive a presidential appointment to the U.S. NTSB (from 1995 to 2004). He played a key role in focusing international attention on the significance of aircraft maintenance in aviation accidents.
AHS International has appointed a new chair, president and secretary/treasurer for the 2017-2018 board of directors. They are, respectively, Boeing Vertical Lift’s VP and general manager, Dave Koopersmith; Leonardo’s managing director, Daniele Romiti, and Bell Helicopter’s EVP, Glenn Isbell Jr.
Air Methods has appointed Cory Theriot as VP of safety and risk management and Alan Einisman as VP and chief compliance officer. Theriot served as VP of safety and quality assurance for Era Helicopters. Einisman served as VP of international compliance and senior associate general counsel for UnitedHealth Group.
Bill Hoback has been appointed director of sales at Precise Flight, Inc., where he has worked for the past five years. Previously, he worked for Cessna in assembly, quality, flight line, customer service and special projects.
Jennifer Whalen has been appointed Era Helicopters’ VP and acting CFO. She previously served as Era’s VP and chief accounting officer. She has 16 years of experience in accounting and was instrumental in Era’s move to becoming an independent public company.
Marenco Swisshelicopter’s has appointed Andre Borschberg as a new member of its board of directors. Borschberg is a former Swiss Air Force jet and helicopter pilot. He co-founded Solar Impulse Project, circumnavigating the world with a solar airplane.
Spirit Aeronautics’ president and COO, Tony Bailey, has been appointed to the Ohio Aerospace and Aviation Technology Committee for a second term. The joint Ohio Senate-House committee is charged with developing a singular, statewide strategy to support the state’s aerospace and aviation industry. Bailey is a non-legislative member of the committee. He also serves on the advisory boards for Gogo and BendixKing.
R&WI Editorial Advisory Board member Sharon Desfor has been elected by the American Society of Appraisers to become its international president. She previously served as ASA’s international VP. Desfor is also president of HeliValue$, which publishes “The Official Helicopter Blue Book.”
James J. Cannon has been appointed FLIR Systems, Inc.’s president and CEO. He previously served in various leadership positions at Stanley Black & Decker, most recently as president of Stanley Security North America & Emerging Markets. He also is a 10-year U.S. Army veteran.
Erickson Inc. has appointed Andrew Mills to serve as the interim president and CEO after Jeff Roberts’ resignation amid Erickson’s exit out of bankruptcy. Mills has 25 years experience in helicopter operations and contracting. RWI
