Simulation-Based Helicopter Training Delivers Superior Results

FlightSafety International, the world’s foremost aviation training company, provides simulation- based helicopter training using advanced-technology training devices designed to enhance the safety and proficiency of helicopter flight crews.

Industry-Leading Simulators

FlightSafety’s industry-leading Level D-qualified helicopter simulators provide the highest level of realism and can replicate the operating characteristics of virtually any aircraft. FlightSafety FS1000 simulators outperform current generation devices in essentially all aspects. They offer advanced instructional capabilities, electric motion control and cueing, and an advanced instructor operating station. The lightweight and highly robust modular design offers added configuration flexibility and ease of systems integration. This enables FlightSafety to respond quickly as new aircraft and advances in technology are introduced, and serves to increase reliability and reduce maintenance time. FlightSafety has built more than 800 full flight simulators and other advanced- technology training devices to date.

Powerful Visual Systems

Our VITAL 1100 visual system is optimized for use in helicopter simulators. It features powerful graphics processors that provide up to 75 x 310 degree expanded field of view with continuous anytime-of-day operations during all phases of flight and offers five times greater computational performance than predecessor systems for exceptional visual realism. The worldwide data- base incorporates the latest terrain information with geo-specific satellite images for unprecedented fidelity. This allows pilots to fly continuous, no-break flights anywhere in the world. The database includes sophisticated weather simulation that can be controlled automatically by current and forecast weather inputs of temperature, humidity, wind, ceilings and visibility. Seasonal weather includes snow, ice, hail and rainfall.

All-Glass Mirror Displays

FlightSafety’s CrewView All-Glass Mirror Displays provide superior optical performance, sharper image clarity, long-term reliability, and night vision capability. The true collimated images they present are free of visible distortions and artifacts out to mirror edge, eliminating ground rush in the bottom field of view. Combined with our VITAL 1100 visual system, CrewView offers the industry’s greatest level of realism. Its modular design produces fields of view that fill the entire aircraft window, which increases the efficiency and effectiveness of training.

Maintenance Training

Through exclusive agreements with Pratt & Whitney Canada and Honeywell Aerospace, FlightSafety offers factory- authorized maintenance training on P&WC engines and Honeywell engines and avionics at locations worldwide.

Mission-Specific Scenarios

FlightSafety’s mission-oriented approach provides a major advantage in helicopter training. Air Medical pilots train to convincing scenarios drawn from real-life challenges. Offshore crews face training scenarios that replicate their particular situation. The company also offers mission-specific training for parapublic and newsgathering. For a growing number of aircraft, training follows FlightSafety’s breakthrough Operational Day Flow regimen, which presents training within the context of a typical flight day. Programs can be customized to emphasize scenarios specific to any operation. A full complement of specialty training courses meets helicopter pilots’ specific training requirements.
